- Edwin, age 49, is a Charlotte native.
- He’s a 1992 graduate of The University of Georgia graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Certificate in Global Studies. He participated on the Varsity baseball practice squads (1990, 1992) and served on the Student Senate (1992)
- From 1992-2003 he lived in the Washington D.C. area where he worked in mortgage finance and the financial services field. In 2003, he & his family returned to Charlotte.
- He is the Vice President for The Pomfret Financial Company, Inc. (since 2000). Edwin’s company primarily represents Northwestern Mutual where he serves as a Financial Advisor (since 2003).
- He attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (Lansdowne Elementary and First Ward Elementary). He graduated from Charlotte Country Day School in 1988 where he played varsity basketball and baseball. He was the co-founder of the Teenage Republican Club.
- Edwin was elected Republican Member At-Large to the Charlotte City Council from 2007-2011. To date, Edwin remains the last at-large, Republican to have been elected in a municipal race.
- Edwin also ran in the 2012 in the 9th Congressional primary receiving the 3rd most votes behind then Senator Robert Pittenger & then Sheriff Jim Pendergraph. Edwin received The Charlotte Observer’s endorsement in the primary.
- Edwin was the Republican Nominee for Mayor of Charlotte in 2013 & 2015 in both races was endorsed by The Charlotte Observer. Edwin fell short of victory in 2013 by 6094 votes and by 3730 votes in 2015.
- He is married to Amy Rupertus Peacock. They are the proud parents of E. Bruton IV (15yrs old) and Avery G. (14yrs old). Amy is a certified personal trainer and certified Chi running/walking coach
